Report: The Lockdown of democracy during the COVID-19 pandemic

Stan Foundation researchers studied how the COVID-19 lockdowns affected the functioning of state institutions, democracy and civil society. The report showed how democratic states operating under time pressure balanced maintaining democratic principles with the need to protect citizens’ life and health.

Report: Seven elections, six presidents: 30 years from the first elections of the head of state

This analysis, by Professor Antoni Dudek, Dr Katarzyna Grzybowska-Walecka and Dr Kinga Wojtas- Jarentowska, focused on elections and presidential campaigns in Poland in 1990-2020. The authors researched the evolution of the party system, changes in methods of political competition and campaign techniques. The report attempted to identify the causes of growing social polarisation observed ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
